WHO WE ARE
Denise
Denise studied fashion design as an undergraduate and, although she was accepted into the Masters’ degree program in Fashion Design at Parsons in New York, she decided to follow her intuition and instead earned advanced degrees in interior architecture and design. This decision allowed her to continue exploring innovative fibers, and unique weaving, printing and dyeing techniques whether she was selecting clothing for herself, instructing students in the classroom, or specifying unique fabrics in her interior design practice.
In the late 1980’s, Denise and one of her former fashion design students launched a clothing line - August Elan - securing a presence in select stores across the US; thanks to fashion buyers who recognized the value of unique textile combinations and superior craftsmanship. After immersing herself in the production of an Art-to-Wear runway show featuring British fashion icon Zandra Rhodes and hosted by the Textile Department of the Minneapolis Museum of Art, Denise’s fascination with textiles expanded to include wearable art.
Shawn
An artist himself, Shawn began to seriously study Pop Art after the death of Andy Warhol in 1987. In 1989, he started the beginning of his personal collection of Pop Art by purchasing his first Andy Warhol work from a well-known art dealer in New York City. After being approached by other art collectors, colleagues, and friends asking him to help them obtain works by Warhol, Rauschenberg, Johns, Oldenberg, Haring, Scharf, Basquiat, and others, what followed was an organic evolution into a career as an art collector and as an art dealer. This synergistic fusion of interests continues to today…thirty-six years later,
